LOGGING
Buy an axe from a tool store, then carry it and approach a supported tree until the E interaction appears. Begin chopping and let the work animation finish. Ordinary scenery trees are not all harvesting points; look for the interaction instead of striking arbitrary trees.
Chopping produces logs, with yield affected by skill. The axe can break during work, so carry a replacement for a longer trip. Keep space for the logs and occasional extra finds. Take logs to a processing station to make boards, then turn boards into paper if that is what your recipe needs.
MINING
Buy a mining pick from a tool store, then take it to an ore deposit and use its E prompt. A jackhammer is a much better upgrade for regular mining: it works faster and has half the mining pick's break chance per completed action. Tools can break, and the result goes into your inventory.
Ore deposits can produce ore, stone and an occasional diamond. Gathering skill can increase the yield. Ore is an ingredient for metal processing; stone has its own uses, including glass production. Leave room for both rather than carrying only enough capacity for ore.
GRAIN, VEGETABLES AND FRUIT
Buy a sickle from a tool store for cutting crops, then use E at a supported plant. The sickle can break. Fruit has its own pickup interaction. Harvestable crops include wheat, rice, corn, barley, hops, sugarcane, tobacco, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, cabbage, eggplant and mixed vegetables.
The plant determines the product: a fruit pickup gives that tree or bush's fruit. Worms and insects can appear as extra finds and have uses beyond farming. Store harvests for cooking, crafting or alcohol production, or supply another player's business.
FLOWERS, HERBS AND WILD PLANTS
Use E at a supported flower or herb patch and finish gathering before moving on. The patch determines whether you collect herbs, mushrooms, coca or opium. The same interaction does not make all of those products legal.
Herbs and other plants feed different crafting and processing chains. Check the required ingredient in the recipe before gathering a large load. Worms, insects and occasional collectible finds may arrive alongside the main harvest.
PUMP AND REFINE OIL
At a working oil gathering point, press E to start the rig and wait for the collection cycle. Raw oil goes into your inventory. It is not immediately the same item as usable fuel or plastic.
At the refinery, choose Process Oil into Gas or Process Oil into Plastic and select a quantity. One gas cycle spends two oil; one plastic cycle spends five oil and produces three to seven plastic. Refining can also yield kevlar as an extra product.
FILL BOTTLES
Bring empty bottles to the water processing point, press E and choose Fill Up Empty Bottles. Select the number of cycles you want to run. Each successful cycle consumes an empty bottle and produces one water.
The empty bottle used here is different from the glass bottle required by alcohol production. Check the item name before buying a large supply. Filled ordinary water is also distinct from purified water used in plant care.
GROW YOUR OWN
Planted crops use watering, fertilizer and harvest actions instead of simply gathering from a wild resource. Planting guide.
SEARCH GARBAGE BINS
On foot, approach a supported garbage bin and press E within about two metres. Complete its search to access the result. The system remembers searched bins, so repeatedly pressing E on the same bin does not create an unlimited supply.
FPS mode disables these nearby-bin checks. If the prompt is missing at a supported bin, leave FPS mode and give the nearby-object check a moment. Paid garbage collection is a separate work route.
