PASS YOUR DRIVING TESTS

Start at the DMV near the airport. Take the $30 theory test first. Once you have passed, choose the practical license you need: car $60, motorcycle $100, or truck $500. Each practical category has its own license.

Follow the checkpoints in the supplied test vehicle. Read each instruction before driving onward: the route changes speed zones and includes stops and turns. The displayed limits are 35 in residential areas, 50 in town and 85 on the freeway. Speeding and damage add mistakes, shown on screen.

Drive smoothly and keep the test vehicle intact. Completing the route evaluates your mistakes and reports a pass or fail; simply reaching the end does not guarantee a license. Aircraft have a separate flight school.

BUYING A VEHICLE

Browse local vehicle sales, speak with a dealer about their stock, or look at the used-car market. Check the vehicle, price and ownership transfer before completing a purchase. Dealerships · Vehicle catalogue.

REGISTRATION, RECOVERY AND PLATES

Visit Vehicle Licensing and choose Owned Vehicles. The list tells you whether each vehicle is outside, in a named garage, at a private residence or in City Impound. Select an eligible vehicle to see its available services and quoted prices.

Recover Vehicle retrieves an eligible missing vehicle through the recovery service. Register Vehicle issues registration; Custom Registration Plate lets you request a custom plate, subject to validation. Rename changes the vehicle name in your list. Buy Vehicle Plates costs $200.

Recovery and registration prices depend on the vehicle. Check the quote before confirming. City Impound is a separate state: contact the relevant service rather than expecting an ordinary garage to release an impounded vehicle.

KEYS, COPIES AND ACCESS

Vehicle keys are associated with a registration plate. Open /carkeys to inspect your key storage and hand a key to another player. Giving a key is separate from transferring ownership: it grants access to the vehicle without selling it.

At a locksmith, Create keys costs $100 and Copy My Keys costs $80. The creation list uses your owned vehicles; impounded vehicles are marked separately. The copy menu uses keys you already carry. Delete My Keys removes stored keys, so select the plate carefully.

Keys are needed for the protected lock, ignition and remote actions. Breaking into a vehicle does not make you its registered owner. If a vehicle has disappeared, inspect its location in Owned Vehicles before assuming a replacement key will recover it.

PUBLIC GARAGES AND STORAGE

At a garage, choose List Vehicles to retrieve a stored vehicle or Store your vehicle to put an eligible nearby vehicle away. Use the correct facility for its type. The menus quote $100 to store a road vehicle, $200 for a boat and $400 for an aircraft.

Keep the spawn area clear when retrieving a vehicle. The garage refuses a blocked spawn, a vehicle already outside or one in impound. A vehicle stored at another named location is not automatically available from every garage.

Storage is separate from repairs. A damaged vehicle can trigger an appraisal choice: accept the quoted service or visit a mechanic. Private property garages have their own capacity and access rules; see home garages.

FUEL AND VEHICLE CONDITION

Combustion vehicles need fuel, while supported electric vehicles use charging. Keep an eye on damage and tires, use car washes for cleaning, and seek a mechanic for repairs or replacement parts. Speed cameras and road signals are part of driving around the city. Mechanic services.

VEHICLE INTERACTION CONTROLS

Press F7 (default binding), or use /vehiclemenu or /vmenu to open the interaction menu. It targets a player or vehicle depending on your situation. What you can do depends on whether you are seated, which seat you occupy, whether you have keys, the vehicle lock state and the equipment in your inventory. Use Next page when there are more actions than fit on one screen.

Inside, the menu covers doors, hood and trunk, windows, lights and neons, available seats, glovebox, car radio and seatbelt. The authorized driver also has engine, locks and handbrake controls. Outside, you can push a vehicle, use its trunk and available equipment; keys unlock additional controls.

Fasten the seatbelt before travelling. It prevents the normal unbelted crash-ejection behavior and blocks the exit control while fastened, so unfasten it before getting out. Cruise control uses Caps Lock while moving; press it again or brake to disengage.

The cabin key-fob interface also controls ignition, interior lighting, doors, windows and empty seats. Command shortcuts include /door and /door2 through /door10, /hood, /trunk, and /window through /window10. A model must actually have the corresponding door or window.

REFUEL AND RECHARGE

Park beside a fuel pump, turn the engine off and leave the driver seat empty. Exit and approach the vehicle until the refuel prompt appears. During filling, the display shows tank percentage and running cost. Press E to stop early; moving away, a driver entering, or a damaged pump can also stop the process.

For roadside refueling, equip a supported fuel can with fuel remaining and use Refuel with fuel can in the vehicle equipment menu. Stand close to the vehicle, keep the engine off and the driver seat empty. An empty can or full tank cannot be used.

For a supported electric vehicle, park within three metres of a supercharger and get out. Press E at the charger to begin. Watch the battery percentage and press G to stop early; charging ends automatically at full charge. A distant vehicle will not connect.

RESPONSIVE TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND SPEED ENFORCEMENT

At supported traffic lights, stop facing your lane's signal and wait. The system detects a correctly aligned stopped vehicle, requests a green phase and then restores the normal light cycle. A stopped car facing the wrong direction may not activate it.

Speed enforcement and police radar are separate from the traffic-light system. Observe the displayed road limits and check any resulting invoice through Billing. Added Sandy Shores signals also form part of the road layout.

WASH YOUR VEHICLE

Drive into a supported car-wash marker and remain seated. Press E to pay for the wash. Payment is checked and deducted before your vehicle is cleaned, using cash first or your bank balance if you do not have enough cash. If neither balance covers the cost, the wash does not take place.

You can also clean your vehicle with a sponge. Get out, stand beside the vehicle facing it and use the sponge from your inventory. Wait for the 10-second washing action to finish. Nearby graffiti takes priority when using the sponge, so move the vehicle away from graffiti before washing it.

Washing does not repair body deformation or replace worn mechanical parts. Rain also slowly cleans an occupied vehicle, but damage still needs the appropriate repair.
