CHOOSE A COMPANION
The companion catalogue includes animals such as dogs, cats and birds, alongside other available companion types. Open your companion list to select an owned companion and see its actions.
FOOD, WATER AND CARE
Select the companion's F / W status entry to inspect its health, food and water. Use Feed with pet food in your inventory and Drink with water. An animation or a follow command does not replenish these needs.
The status menu also allows renaming; human companions can have custom dialogue. Release removes your companion relationship, so do not use it as a substitute for Go Home. Human companions have a separate food-money setting in their inventory menu.
CALL, COMMAND AND FIND A COMPANION
Open the companion menu and select a named companion. Call brings out an available companion; Go Home dismisses it. Once it is present, choose Follow to travel together, Stop to keep it in place, or Wander to let it move around. GPS helps locate it.
Pet actions depend on the species. With a leash available you can choose Short Leash or Long Leash; move close before attaching it. Poodles, pugs and Westies also have Carry. Fetch Ball needs a ball the pet can find nearby. Animations are species-specific, so different pets show different choices.
If a companion is dead, its menu offers Revive instead of the normal actions. That requires and consumes a defibrillator and takes ten seconds. Call the companion again when it is available.
HUMAN COMPANIONS AND VEHICLES
Human companions offer Inventory and Vehicle menus. Inventory lets you manage what they carry, give food money, set whether they can trade and select an available weapon or Unarm.
In Vehicle, choose an available seat, Enter or Exit. For Drive to Waypoint, place a map waypoint first, then choose the action with the companion in the appropriate driving position. Companion driving skill is visible in its status information.
Human companion Actions can also start or stop drug dealing or assign a trap-house role. Those are criminal business actions described in the drug guide, not ordinary pet commands.
HUMAN COMPANIONS
Eligible human companions can carry inventory and have additional work actions, including drug dealing and running a trap house. These are distinct from the animal-care options. Drug operations.
RIDE AND TAME ANIMALS
Use the riding interaction on a supported animal while on foot. Horses, donkeys, deer, cows and boars have riding support. A domesticated animal starts under control; a wild one may flee while you try to stay mounted.
When prompted, repeatedly tap the accelerate control, normally W, to gain control. If your grip falls too far, you are thrown off. Once in control, steer with the movement controls and hold Left Shift to move faster. An animal falling, ragdolling or becoming injured can also unseat you.
